Egapro Index at HRF and International Women’s Rights Day
Sunday was International Women’s Rights Day. This global event, held every year on March 8, commemorates past struggles for gender equality and women’s rights.
Women’s rights at H. Reynaud et Fils
In France, all companies with at least 50 employees are required to calculate and publish their Gender Equality Index. It was designed to help advance pay equality between women and men within companies.
How? By measuring pay gaps between genders in a fully transparent way and highlighting areas for improvement. When pay disparities are identified, corrective measures must be taken, particularly when the index falls below 75 points.
H. Reynaud et Fils is proud to have achieved a score of 94/100 for the second year in a row.
The origins of International Women’s Rights Day
This date recalls the demonstrations led by women in Europe and the United States at the beginning of the 20th century, when they demanded better working conditions, the right to vote, and equal treatment.
It was first proposed by Clara Zetkin at the International Conference of Socialist Women in Copenhagen in 1910, and was later officially recognized by the United Nations in 1977.
Its main objectives are to:
- raise awareness of the persistent inequalities between women and men, whether in terms of pay gaps, gender-based violence, or underrepresentation in positions of power;
- celebrate progress in women’s rights and highlight the figures who have shaped the history of feminism;
- encourage governments, companies, and civil society to adopt policies and initiatives in support of gender equality;
- mobilize public opinion and foster international dialogue on the challenges that remain in ensuring women’s empowerment in all areas.
Women and sustainable development
This day also connects with the fact that the whole of 2026 has been placed under the banner of Volunteers 2026 in the service of sustainable development (as decided by the United Nations General Assembly).
And in France, more than 60% of these volunteers are… women! 😊
